Student Teaching

I student taught the spring semester of 2015. My first eight weeks I worked in a middle school, teaching two periods of each grade level. Seeing the same students every day helped me to develop close relationships with every one of my students, helping me to better understand what skills and concepts they needed to work on more. My second eight weeks was spent at the elementary level between three schools. Seeing 700 students once a week was eye-opening and made me realize how important developing relationships with students is despite the lack of regular time spent teaching them. Going between three schools helped me improve time management and efficiency skills immensely.

Both placements were wonderful experiences that solidified my love of teaching art.

Welcome!

This site documents my opportunities in art education thus far – and it has reinforced my drive to become an educator. I wanted to keep track of my wonderful learning experiences and the smorgasbord of information I’ve collected along the way. Doing this serves as a constant reminder of the path I’ve chosen in life and a great memory trigger of the journeys I’ve gone through to get here.

In each page you will be able to see a little piece of those journeys. I hope you enjoy looking through my artwork, class projects, thoughts on education, and all of my hardwork.
